FDR had a term that Bernie then used as well: “economic royalists.” They are those who resist policies that take the economic shackles off the average person, defending a system that at its very core finds the empowerment of the masses an annihilation of their cultural identity.

Part of the problem is that ppl who believe in a just society also believe that no one should have the power of the “economic royalists” & so guess who assumes that power 😐🤷🏽‍♂️

FDR’s policies exacerbated poverty & prevented wage growth, disproportionately affecting low income wage earners & causing mass unemployment for over a decade and a half. His economic mismanagement killed untold thousands and was so widespread that only a world war could undo it
