What Republicans call “far left” policies like universal healthcare and free college tuition are considered middle of the road mainstream positions in most of Europe. How tragic that people have been convinced that they deserve so little by the very people who are taking so much.

It's as much about language as anything. We must reclaim the center. That starts with us not referring to ourselves as "left" when we're dead center with our policy goals.

There aren't many positions that aren't far to the left of the republican party.

Many Democrats call these policies too far Left too. Both American parties are squarely in the Right-wing, after all.

And not just Europe but with regard to healthcare also — in some form or other — in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Israel.

Free healthcare is a human right.

Nope, I don’t think I deserve little. I just think I deserve what I pay for. I’d rather pay for school and choose my insurance than pay a 60% tax rate so others can go to uni on my dime.
