What Republicans call “far left” policies like universal healthcare and free college tuition are considered middle of the road mainstream positions in most of Europe. How tragic that people have been convinced that they deserve so little by the very people who are taking so much.

We in europe are wondering the same. Not many FREE countries have two right wing parties when there is only a 2 party state 👍

Big diff between free college tuition and canceling student debt. The latter is what R’s call far left.

“Free” government schools are mostly closed. Commercial/ecumenical schools are mostly open. Looks like you get what you pay for. Health care in Europe is not “free”. Most Europeans pay over 50% of their income in taxes. Doesn’t sound free to me

Funny that the same people that justify corporate tax cuts by saying they will pay for themselves in greater productivity will deny that same reasoning when applied to social programs spending.

As others have said: The propaganda machine is powerful. The only image many Americans have of socialism is the Soviet Union in the 1950s-60s. We need new different messaging. "American New Deal?" "Partnership with Americans?" And how to re-educate so many millions?
