I don’t know when it’s going to happen nor how much pain needs to happen first, but there’s no way this time of crisis isn’t going to ultimately lead to a social & political renaissance. This much shattering of illusions can’t help but lead to the emergence of some hidden truths.

Doesn’t work like that. If the truth is inconvenient enough, they will find a way to hide it again. Abusers and oppressors work in the same way: control. I’ve learned that dealing with mental and physical abuse for many years.

Renaissance? I hope you're right. Unfortunately, too many Americans don't first reach for spirited renewal... they're afraid, walled-off, and divisive. Tribal to a fault. The revolution we need may just as easily be led to further oppression, deepen inequality, and despair.

If Democratic leadership’s primary objective was helping people, they would immediately work to pass a much larger stimulus check as a standalone bill and hammer it endlessly in public until Republicans caved.
