Essentially nothing has gotten better in this country since the mid 90s. It does deserve our condemnation, but that condemnation comes from a place of patriotism. We can't improve if we can't talk about what's wrong.

America deserves neither the Right’s delusional self-congratulations nor the Left’s knee jerk condemnation. It deserves citizens who will take an honest look in the mirror, honor our ancestors for where they got it right and repair the things that are so clearly broken.

I don't really know why it makes sense to give oxygen to right wing claims that the left "hates America." Or even to assume there are huge gulfs between us, a super majority of the country supports Medicare For All for instance, the issue is that we have two corrupt parties.
