Death from a taser is very rare. It's a horrible 5 seconds, but 99.9% of the time, when that 5 seconds is over, the pain is over.

From what I’ve read, it can cause serious physical damage. Major bolts of electricity! And there are clearly many instances of it being used unnecessarily.

Agreed. We can send a person to the moon, but we can't invent a safe, non-lethal way to temporarily incapacitate people who are presenting a threat? Why must we continue using such primitive devices as guns and tasers?

Tasers aren't toys for sure but they are a better than only having firearms for use of force.
