Why does the media talk so much more about the coronavirus than about the food lines, the evictions, the social consequences of all that despair? There are many ways to ruin a life and damage a nation.

Corporate media is an extension of state power. They can’t have the world knowing the US economy is deteriorating and people are suffering.

The American media work hard to ignore the plight of the poor. It's what their billionaire owners want, to craft the narrative by ignoring the needs of poor folks.

The same reason they talk so much about Trump instead of the corrupt rigged system of exploitative, lying, cheating capitalism that created him and elevated him to the highest office in the nation and rewards exploitation & corruption while punishing honesty and sincerity.

The media is owned by the filthy rich & operated by the 20% stockholders/stakeholders who do ALL the talking, no listening, & have convinced themselves (& us) that they speak for all. They obviously don’t 😭👎

Ninety percent of American media is owned by six multinational corporations that have a vested interest in things remaining the same. That should tell you all you need to know.

Truly unconscionable that the media is not flooded with pictures/stories of the impoverished. Hunger, eviction & homelessness, poor health, dental decay & mental illness etc. Unless people see these images/hear these stories, a disconnect allows poverty to flourish.

Because poverty, hunger, homelessness and despair do not touch their lives. The pandemic is merely an inconvenience to them

It's just as egregious as Trump knowing how bad the virus was/is and downplaying it, imo. They are downplaying the suffering. Nah. Show it. Every day. Flood the headlines. Give the people the tools to advocate for a people's stimulus (like below). bailoutthepeople.com
