In the 1960’s President Johnson waged a War on Poverty. Today we don’t wage a war on poverty; it’s more like we wage a war on the poor.

Lyndon Johnson's great society programs destroyed communities. Welfare state doesn't make the society better.

It's heartbreaking & unnecessary. We can easily afford to care for all our citizens.

It was always a war on the poor. When it was WW1 and WW2, it was a war on the poor. Korea and Vietnam too. War on Poverty? War on Drugs? War on Terror? Poor. Poor. And poor. Maybe it’s time we stop waging war.

In 1960 Johnson's War on Poverty was huge ... lots of young people went to college to become Social Workers ... The Republicans killed that program simply by not funding it ... Just like they're doing now ... They wage war on the poor with their purse strings ...

Do you remember the "Welfare Mothers Image" of Clinton era ... (sitting at home, watching TV and collecting welfare checks) ... for many Republicans, that image still exists.

The battle plan was horrible.
