Money in politics is the cancer underlying all the other cancers; getting money out of politics is the greatest moral challenge of our generation. Nothing is more important than that we push for public funding of federal campaigns. The system as it is is irredeemable.

I wish there was a law that banned all political ads. People get their ballots mailed to them. There’s a paper included that shows, line by line, the funding, voting history, and platform of each candidate. Black and white, nothing fancy. Ppl vote based off of info, not feelings.

Absolutely true. Today's America is not about democracy but about a big money ruled plutocracy. Gerrymandering, Citizens United, voter suppression. There is a lot of work that needs to be done..

At least as bad if not worse is the backend graft of high-paying lobbying jobs, inflated speaking fees, gifts, & BS foundations. Particularly at the presidential level, this sure as hell looks like kickbacks. Their ONLY income should be their generous gov't pension.
Government, non-profit legal entity. protect The People-its only mission. The great counterweight to the other great power, private for-profit capitalism. Capitalism has turned govt into a tool to increase profits, and The People are left to fight Goliath with slingshots.

I’m not too keen on my tax dollars being used to help a fascist run for President but perhaps we should put a cap on campaign spending to even the playing field - if you go over you forfeit your name on the ballot.

Not quite. Money in politics is a natural consequence of a system where everything can be bought and sold. Why not buy a politician if you can afford it..? The problem is capitalism and the mindset of scarcity that lies behind it..!
