The only force more powerful than hate is love. The hatred Trump harnessed for political purposes will still exist even when he leaves the WH. The way to overwhelm it is to love people enough that you fundamentally lessen the pain of the economic desperation they are feeling now.

For the trumpers I know, it’s not economic pain at all. They’re doing perfectly fine and F everyone else cuz they did it “on their own”. I quite welcome a quiet holiday. 🙂

I’m on board completely with helping them with their pain. Healthcare, education, economic security. But don’t ask me to pretend that their Trumpist beliefs are acceptable.

You can't love the racism out of someone. That's not how it works. Another reason why I can't wait for UBI. Because once the "economic desperation" is gone, some of you will finally see that the racism doesn't just go with it. Then we can maybe address the real issues.

It’s called tough love. What you champion as “love” is really just indifference to the reality of morality/absolutes. Trump loves our country, and to defend/protect it requires him to call out enemies and that makes weak people uncomfortable...discomfort doesn’t make him wrong.
