How about: people like having the opportunity to thrive and to make something of their lives, and believe that in the richest country on earth it is only reasonable that they should be able to do that.

Opportunity to thrive isn't a guarantee to thrive. What happens if you take out a $100,000 school loan and buy a car with it while studying for a degree in psychology? That gives you the right to steal money from me to pay for your mistakes?

Nothing stopping anyone from doing what you speak of. However they will do it on their own. Demanding anyone subsidize their folly is out. You only get out of life what you put in. It’s the way of nature. Put forth no effort, reap no reward.
Yes and everytime things like M4A show up on the ballot or in the state legislatures they are defeated resoundingly when the voters see the price tag

Car loan forgiveness! I’m having to choose between my Lexus payment and putting food on the table!!

What a dumb fucking response. Simply saying “we are the richest country!” is not the argument of a mature carefully considered adult. Why not absolve all debts (mortgages, auto, etc.), why just student loans? Why not make food, housing, etc. “human rights” to be administered...

"We're the richest country on earth" is a non sequitur that doesn't come remotely close to addressing the fact that at $26T+ in the red, we are also the most deeply indebted nation on earth, & the government uniquely inefficient at distributing goods & services

And what about those of us who are not rich but sacrificed years of our lives with nothing to pay off student loan debt? I don’t think you can understand the collective rage if the govt starts handing out freebies to this generation who feels entitled to everything for free.
