When I was in college, 300,000 people were in prisons across the United States. Today it’s over 2.3 million. The real crime here is the advent of the private prison industry. Billions of dollars are made off human suffering and injustice.
Imagine. You’re locked in a confined space w/ dozens. 23 hrs movement restricted. No masks. Forced to share toilet. Either no soap or soap you can’t afford. Many likely have symptoms. Complain: you’re retaliated against. Medical care denied. This is US jails/prisons right now.

That was the unfortunate result of the 1994 Crime Bill. What would be more interesting is who profited from the privatization of prisons.. any members of the Fed/State legislative or judiciary branches? Hmm 🤔

The number of prisoners housed in private prisons is 124,000. That info is provided for anyone who wanted to know, since Marianne certainly wasn’t going to tell you.

STARTS with the incentive to arrest 💰 Officers attend court during off duty time, they incur overtime pay 💸 ENDS with the incentive to keep Prisons full 💵 PRISON is paid by head count, high payment per head 💰 Same is going on with the Dentention centers, private big 💰💰💰
Williamson: I’m in favor of prison reform, Green ND, helping the poor, M4A, taxing the rich, increasing Social Security, ending these illegal wars, free college & justice for all! So I support Biden & Harris because they are directly opposed to ALL of these things 🙄 WTF!?

I’m pretty sure you can put a large percentage of those down to Bill Clinton’s 3 strikes policy. Of course when Killary ran he regretted it.
Add to that 10's of countries with millions in virtual prisons and sanctions

It is profitable to keep people in private prisons. And corporations are taking advantage of the slave labor in those prisons. This is all due to the profit based Capitalist (New Age Feudalist) system, we as a species can do a lot better. #DirectDemocracy #GiftEconomy

This all started in 1980 with the Reagan Administration ... "Privatize Everything" ... was the mantra!
