The mindset of the 21st-Century must be different than that of the 20th. We won’t survive another 100 years on this planet unless we transition from a win-lose to a win-win paradigm. None of us will survive unless we turn our attention to all of us being able to.

In a free market transaction, all trades are based on both participants gaining more from the transaction than what they’re giving up. Otherwise the parties don’t trade. Hence all transactions in a free market are win-win. Big fan btw, but we have different economic ideas.

When capitalist exchange is ethical, correct. When unethical, then incorrect. To me the question isn’t capitalism v. non-capitalism, but rather capitalism with or without conscience. Since the 1980s a virulent strain of capitalism untethered to ethics has become a global scourge.

Capitalism is not capitalism without respect for individual rights. That is at the core of ethics. Without an example I am uncertain what sort of freely made exchange where both parties consent would be unethical. Much of what you have seen since the 80’s is not capitalism.

What do you call it when Exxon drills in the Amazon, refuses to follow environmental protections, produces largest oil spill in history, poisons the water & indigenous tribes & refuses to pay clean up or compensation? Or when Dow/Dupont sell pesticides that harm a child’s brain?

I call it crime. I have no problem with drilling or chemical development, but when those products are used to violate other’s rights (property land/water rights or bodily rights) that’s not capitalism. An example, I believe the production of knives is ethical but stabbing isn’t.
