Poverty is treated by our govt like it’s an inconvenience, a charitable cause rather than the dark underbelly of systemic economic injustice. The champions of the poor are viewed as ragamuffins who need to learn to behave, radicals too immature to understand how the system works.

This is the libertarianism of Charles Koch, and many of the other wealthy plutocrats. People who think they deserve this wealth and that poverty is a choice.

Poverty is necessitated by capitalism to frighten and incentivize the working middle class. The poor are painted by the rich as an enemy to the middle, but in reality the middle should align themselves with the poor since the real rich is an exclusive club, & you're not invited.

poverty (in the states) is treated by most of the impoverished like it doesn't exist.. how do you begin to love someone who doesn't love themselves?

Right?! Because people don’t understand the fact that we’re all connected. And they do view poverty, and people who live in poverty, as an inconvenience instead of extending them empathy and compassion, and realizing that helping others benefits everyone.

Sadly it is also treated this way by our own fellow citizens. All you need to do is look at the comments regarding the notion of canceling student debt. Willful ignorance and lack of empathy runs deep in our society, that’s what hurts the most.

People need to Hve current skills to pull out of poverty. I just got charged $255 for oil burner tuneup. Why not train people in poverty fit skilled jobs line plumber, AC, heating n they will Hve abc average income
They treat it as a charitable cause only so far as to cover up the fact that their great wealth depends on this very inequality.
