Poverty is treated by our govt like it’s an inconvenience, a charitable cause rather than the dark underbelly of systemic economic injustice. The champions of the poor are viewed as ragamuffins who need to learn to behave, radicals too immature to understand how the system works.

$2k/mo for everyone ‘til pandemic is over, $1K/mo UBI after that, end corporate subsidies, increase taxes on corporations & top earners, Medicare4All, free college & tech schools, cancellation of college loan debt. That would begin the process of a much needed course-correction.

Poverty under capitalism is deliberately created and enforced so that there is a permanent working class which is pliable, controllable, and creates the wealth stolen by the ruling oligarchy class to make themselves even more powerful. Poverty can not be solved under capitalism.

Poverty is a mental condition. To elimante it is to address the fundamental issue. Of course the state has to provide some basic necessities. But ultimately its 100% mental condition. Fix the mind. Fix the life. That should be the focus. Stop $$ for wars and build homes for people

Religions have an unfortunate role is keeping poverty backing up kings aka ruthless dictators treating their subjects like slaves and property and of course governments spend $zillions in stupid schemes but nothing to get rid of poverty
