Marianne also called QAnon a “dark psychic force,” a callback to her line from the presidential debate
Q Anon is a “dark psychic force,” by the way.

People laughed when I talked about “the dark psychic force of collectivized hatred,” but if we had mocked it less then we would have a more sophisticated response to it by now.

Your vague wording made it easy to dismiss, but if this is what you meant, you were completely right.

“Dark psychic force of collectivized hatred” isn’t vague. It’s the Holocaust. It’s Rwanda. It’s collective psychosis. What made it easy to dismiss was some people choosing to deride it, making sure no one is allowed to expand a pre-approved & pre-prescribed political conversation

You are undoubtably correct that many people wanted to avoid that discussion and were intentionally obtuse. However I do think that the term psychic force makes it easier, because it seems to place the phenomenon outside of the people experiencing/promulgating it.

You’re really suggesting that an analysis that sophisticated was at work there? I think not. And a psychic force by definition is inside people and not outside them

I'm afraid many people will misinterpret those words to mean something supernatural. I get that that's not your purpose, but many people would rather reach for an explanation of that sort than consider the sociological/psychological structures at play.
