People laughed when I talked about “the dark psychic force of collectivized hatred,” but if we had mocked it less then we would have a more sophisticated response to it by now.

I used it one debate, but “a dark psychic force of collectivized hatred” is exactly what it is. Would using the phrase “collective psychosis” have sounded pseudo-sophisticated enough to get past the gatekeepers do you think?
