I can’t understand why thinking Americans should have the same or better healthcare, or educational or economic opportunities that citizens in other advanced democracies have should be considered “too far left.” What’s the downside?

im tired of them screaming socialism. How many of them want their kids back un school because thats where their meals come from? As long as socialism benefits them they are good with it. With their attitude, since i never had kids, why should i support taxes that go to schools?

Equal opportunity for minorities. They don't want that.

Well educated people not afraid of losing health coverage are very much harder to cow and trick. Q E D

They live in a zero sum world, thinking that if other people are benefitting then they would be hurt. In reality, we need to wake up and realize that we could create a world where anyone doing better would only make things better for everyone else.

Taxes. This is the only objection I ever hear. The right has done a very good job of fomenting the fear of “out-of-control” taxes. Fear is not rational. 🤷‍♀️

Have you read this? This is essentially what they want; laboratory level of control over the class system where all are programmed to fulfill their prescribed roles obliviously except for the elite of the ruling class. They get off on having a "better" life than the peons.

Healthy and well educated people are harder to scam and control

The downside is employers would loose control. We the people would then have a " real" choice in where we work. People would be able to choose where to work without fear of losing heathcare.
