I can’t understand why thinking Americans should have the same or better healthcare, or educational or economic opportunities that citizens in other advanced democracies have should be considered “too far left.” What’s the downside?

Exploit? No one is forcing anyone to do anything. You wanna work you can apply for a job; if not, sit at home in your mommy’s basement and eat cheese puffs playing video games—that’s on you and you’re not “entitled” to receiving anything from anyone.
Canadian here. The only thing my American friends seem to get better service in is perhaps shorter wait times. Priorities always get pushed to the front so it could be a while for certain things.

What? Where did you hear this?? There are walk in clinics everywhere if you can't get a same day appointment with your doctor. What is crazy to me is that parents have to wage an emotional war on whether to go bankrupt or get their child cancer treatment. That is insane!!!

Ugh. I hate the way media and statistics can be twisted to fit unscrupulous agendas!! I fear our government (one party in particular) is becoming more and more capitalistic as well. Good luck and good health in 2021!!
Israel gets a 14.5 million check daily from US and then has comprehensive full coverage including reproductive services and abortion services and stem cell treatments covered.

There literally is a reason. The people don't want it. The people voted against Bernie's healthcare plan. The people voted for Biden's healthcare plan.
Taxes that are raised for “endless” wars are wasteful and inefficient, so yes...
I don’t know what your invocation of race has to do with anything. No one is inherently better than anyone else and no one deserves special treatment based on the color of their skin.
