You think it’s a joke right? Well it’s not. 80% of a child’s brain is developed by the age of three. Whether that child is read to, his or her brain stimulated, is well fed etc. will go far towards determining their future & America’s. Other societies know this & act accordingly.

Nope. See, I completely agree with what you just said right here. That's why the universal preschool comment baffles me. It's a non sequitur. Preschool is a daycare service that has basically no impact on development.

There are many things we as a society could be doing to help families with small children, but scaling up our public school model to start at 3 years old doesn't strike me as one of them. I think it's a detriment to your wider argument to pick that as the end goal itself
