Like any at-risk species, our collective behavioral patterns are maladaptive for survival. We’ll either evolve or go extinct. The needed mutation is a massive change of heart in humanity’s sense of our purpose: from being here to use the world to being here to heal the world.

Human beings have a natural & psychological need to be “needed”. If we could only harness our gifts w/ the common purpose of saving the planet, we would save ourselves both internally & external. The ecological ethic is the wisdom of our interconnectedness w/ planet & each other.

Perhaps better still, to recognize we are part of the world and reconnect with it emotionally? As many traditional cultures have recognized: we are the world/land and the world/ land is us. Rspct us and we rspct the world. Maybe we should respect us - each other- as a priority?
