As we near the moment of knowing that this nightmare will be over, I’m not experiencing the giddy excitement I expected to feel. I feel more the shock of knowing how close we came to the demise of our democracy, and an almost tearful gratitude that we survived.

Over? 🍊 will get 70 million votes, Team Blue did not take the Senate, Pelosi nearly lost the House, team Red overwhelmingly dominated state legislatures, and pundits are already pushing corporate narratives. No matter who won this was always going to be a disaster. Fight now!

But we didn't save our democracy because what we use to govern ourselves in no way resembles the definition of democracy. Not while we have electors and a SCOTUS with the power to overturn elections. Power should not be concentrated like it is.

And - if the Democrats insist on their centrist incrementalusm - we will have WORSE than Trump next time. There are plenty of them waiting in the wings: Tom Cotton, Ted Cruz, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence. This is the Democrat's LAST CHANCE.

You seriously need to become more conscious of your words & how your thinking is informed by your extremely privileged position of wealth. Millions aren't "surviving," & they are going to suffer as much or more in the coming years. And you are bleating about "tearful gratitude."
