I wish someone could explain to me why police in other countries de-escalate situations nonviolently in so many instances where police in the U.S. are more likely to shoot to kill. We talk about “better police training” but nothing seems to change...

(I corrected a deleted tweet. Thank you for the advice from so many. One veteran wrote of how police training started changing in the 90s. Please re-post. I know I should’ve left the other one up. Just learning…)

Very simple... most other countries have restrictions on guns ie the police is way less like to get shot hence don’t use there weapon as much.

You can't fix #antiblackracism with simple de-escalation training. You can't fix evil with simple training.

I believe it's because in other countries they are not allowed....scratch that...encouraged to use violence

In many other countries they don’t carry guns

We can't push for both defunding police and wanting to increase resources for training. We must increase funding AND use it for training.
