I wish someone could explain to me why police in other countries de-escalate situations nonviolently in so many instances where police in the U.S. are more likely to shoot to kill. We talk about “better police training” but nothing seems to change...

People in other countries respect law enforcement. Unfortunately here, it has become the norm to disrespect and encourage the disrespect of police which leads to more and more people not complying with law enforcement which escalates everything.

Unless you only call cops over for coffee, nearly every encounter they have, by the nature of their job, is indeed a 'threat'.
