I wish someone could explain to me why police in other countries de-escalate situations nonviolently in so many instances where police in the U.S. are more likely to shoot to kill. We talk about “better police training” but nothing seems to change...

(I corrected a deleted tweet. Thank you for the advice from so many. One veteran wrote of how police training started changing in the 90s. Please re-post. I know I should’ve left the other one up. Just learning…)

Because extrajudicial killing is a fundamental tool of American "law enforcement" and has been for over a hundred and fifty years.

How about... Raising children with respect for authority, adults and society? Lets see how quickly you call the police for 'action' when they're beating your door down.

Investigations, in order to answer your query should probably open with finding out "why?" individual people go into policing career in the first place. What are individual 'motives'? Next, police precincts can be revamped and reorganized based on again, 'motive'. #PoliceMotive

well, excluding Paris, London and other 'heterogenous' cities, police are simply more willing to de-escalate when they see themselves (racially) in the other person. This is the issue at its *core*. Too many, uh, 'officers' who can't see Black people as viable humans.
