It’s an odd psychology that makes people resist giving $1000/mo to hard-working citizens to buy what they need, yet be OK with billions/yr given as subsidies to industries already making huge profits destroying the planet so that a tiny group of people can buy whatever they want.

I truly believe we are moving into a new era in human history that will value inclusiveness, fairness, and cooperation above selfishness, greed, and indifference. Trumpism is the last gasp of the old order desperately trying to hold on to power.

No, it's perfectly fine and should be a no-brainer during a crisis and COVID. That temp $ shouldn't B referred to as UBI. UBI is a permanent program. And that permanent program should NOT be our priority before other safety nets are put in place. Plz specify which U refer to.

It’s doubly odd when you consider that the $1,000 a month will end up in the hands of industry a month from now anyway, when regular people pay their bills. Odd may be the wrong word. “Mean” is more like it.

It's not even so the rich can buy whatever they want. They already have enough money for that, but they still want more. The money is how they keep score in the crazy game they're playing.

I expect that most Americans don't understand the scale of the subsidies being given to industries destroying our planet so the money aren't real. Our media is not great at depicting what ordinary people live on vs what the wealthy live on

Many are against both. But it isn't, "giving $1000/mo to hard-working citizens to buy what they need". It's taking that $1000 by threat of violence. What sort of psychology makes people believe that sort of violence is acceptable?
