What basis do the police have for removing PPE that people are handing out at a polling site? What are they shutting down next? Lemonade stands?
On the first day of early voting in Red Hook, @NYPD76Pct officers confronted community activists handing out PPE in front of an early polling site & then seized it. This is unacceptable, the NYPD must issue clear guidelines & not escalate situations at the polls.

You can’t hand stuff out at the polls, even if it’s as inoccucuous as a mask. It’s meant to discourage voter intimidation or influence.

What on earth for? Why not help distribute the PPE to voters?! This makes absolutely no sense on multiple levels!

That’s just wrong. People have the right to protect themselves.

I wondered the same thing as well. I don’t know how they have any right to do this.

They’re stealing it! Under what statute are they seizing that property? This is the slow-rolling police riot that needs more attention - their actions to make life worse for the people footing the bill for the wages, benefits & pensions that the rest of us don’t have.

Activists are not supposed to be soliciting at polling stations.
