None of this is enough if no one goes to prison! If you’re poor in America you go to jail but if you’re rich enough you’re more likely to be able to “make a settlement.” Hundreds of thousands of people died because of this; it needs to be punished by far more than a big write-off

There are many angles to this and much we will never know. The Purdue representative knew that Oxycontin was simply long acting Percocet which all medical providers had experience with. Those with no way to go after the criminal element went after Purdue!

These large Corporations plead guilty to limited crimes ... get limited fines ... and the CEO's walk away with no Jail time when they've killed or injured thousands of people ... shouldn't that change?

This is where libertarians and progressives agree. Corporations, by their very nature, are anti free-market. The individuals who run them get government protection for their losses and misdeeds. Try paying a fine for killing people as an unincorporated private citizen!
