I’m not anti-capitalist; I think the most enlightened society has aspects of capitalism & socialism. But we’ve drifted into a virulent strain of capitalism, with no ethical or moral responsibility to people or planet. It will correct that, or a generation will storm the Bastille.

What can we do to prevent overthrow via violent revolution if every person with power to change things doesn’t acknowledge there’s a problem? We can’t have an honest conversation because of the absolute corruption of our capitalist system.

A lot of people in government acknowledge there’s a problem, but until we get the money out of politics then it will be difficult to get those kinds of politicians the power they need to change it. And an effort at “violent overthrow” will achieve nothing but violent repression.

“Money in politics” is literally the CORE of capitalism. Think about it.

A revolution is authoritarian. The dictatorship of the proletariat is authoritarian. But it is the ONLY thing that can end the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. The state cannot serve two masters. There is no 'getting money out of politics' as long as their fortunes exist.
If we don't evolve past capitalism we're doomed. We have no time left to screw around.
The only way to get money out of politics is to get capitalism out of democracy. FTT
Correct! It all comes back to money in politics. (and the courts) At present, political corruption is legal and there is nothing we can do to stop it, short of a constitutional amendment. Btw... I owe you one!
The people have to get the money out of politics. Various models on how to around world...pick one, educate Americans on how to do it and advocate and mobilize until the problem solved. Action not talk.

Agree on all points. I’m interested in discovering the path that avoids violence or collapse and leads us from where we are now to getting money out of politics, to an alternative motivation to greed for politicians, who then make decisions based on human thriving. I can’t see it

In NZ, there is no significant influence of money in politics. Yet, the ideology of neoliberalism and capitalism dominate, resulting in policies that favour the rich and the settler colonizers. NZ even sent troops to Iraq and Afghanistan. nzherald.co.nz/nz/election-2…

Anti-violence rhetoric... How come the Native Americans do not nor ever will control this country? US does not serve a King? Slavery (aside from prison loophole) was abolished? Because violence is the answer whether that tugs your heart strings or not that is reality.
