I’m not anti-capitalist; I think the most enlightened society has aspects of capitalism & socialism. But we’ve drifted into a virulent strain of capitalism, with no ethical or moral responsibility to people or planet. It will correct that, or a generation will storm the Bastille.

What can we do to prevent overthrow via violent revolution if every person with power to change things doesn’t acknowledge there’s a problem? We can’t have an honest conversation because of the absolute corruption of our capitalist system.

A lot of people in government acknowledge there’s a problem, but until we get the money out of politics then it will be difficult to get those kinds of politicians the power they need to change it. And an effort at “violent overthrow” will achieve nothing but violent repression.

We need to get the two party system out of politics.
Getting money out of politics by voting is like getting the fox out of the henhouse by leaving the door open.

Hey Marianne are u already a member of DSA? If not would like to become a member? Building up institutions like DSA that was one of the very first organizations to endorse Bernie right out the gate is crucial to making a better world possible. act.dsausa.org/donate/member…

Power & money corrupts people at a deep psychic level ensnaring them with a primal fear of losing it. Legislators won't vote away their own money, power or security. Its also why corporate directors/boards won't pay higher wages to workers. That's the catch 22 we face.

You should do some research on the Zapatistas. It might be something that would interest you.

It's not possible to "get the money out of politics" completely without actually abolishing capitalism. Capitalism incentivizes destruction of people and the earth, and the consolidation of power in the form of capital. That will always be true about capitalism.

It is so easy just to say "get money out of politics" when those that have the money control the government. They would never just let us peacefully vote or protest to make a change, because the system is fixed against justice.

If it's not possible to vote the money out of politics & if we would be violently repressed via revolution, then maybe the answer is to remove the money by hook or crook? Hacking may be our solution?
