I’m not anti-capitalist; I think the most enlightened society has aspects of capitalism & socialism. But we’ve drifted into a virulent strain of capitalism, with no ethical or moral responsibility to people or planet. It will correct that, or a generation will storm the Bastille.

"a virulent strain of capitalism, with no ethical or moral responsibility to people or planet" - yes, that's called capitalism. It is like this by design and it's working as intended. You can't simply fix capitalism, it's inherently exploitative and is always gonna work this way.

I take issue with the premise that we could ever reach a "most enlightened" stage and stop evolving- I think it's a huge conceit to think that, and to think capitalism won't eventually be phased out. But after all, Marx did think capitalism was a crucial step in the process

Capitalism is awesome except when the capitalist money buys politicians. Money should be separate from politics.

Define enlightened. My guess is not-exploitative. You don't have that in capitalism by definition

Really given the massive amount of state control in the economy it would seem we’ve been leaning too much into socialism.

We are seeing the end result of wealth accumulation. You can not legislate for the common good when a group of people have enough money to purchase a government.

This is what capitalism is. It's not a "virulent strain," this is capitalism and this is what it does every time.
