I’m not anti-capitalist; I think the most enlightened society has aspects of capitalism & socialism. But we’ve drifted into a virulent strain of capitalism, with no ethical or moral responsibility to people or planet. It will correct that, or a generation will storm the Bastille.

Except it is Overtime capitalism will dismantle the safety net to put workers into a position exploitable by the ruling class. The capitalist will seek to control government to extract wealth for themselves at the expense of everyone else.

im not an econ expert, but it seems very presumptive that the workers cant or wont fund new ideas (whether through co-ops or what have you)

Capitalism's function is to consolidate power in the hands of the few so they can use that power to further consolidate their own power. It's a system which incentivizes and rewards immoral behavior, it's not a matter of who wields it

without money you can't buy food or pay rent or get medical care especially since insurance is usually through work. not really voluntary if you can't leave without starving on the streets
