I’m not anti-capitalist; I think the most enlightened society has aspects of capitalism & socialism. But we’ve drifted into a virulent strain of capitalism, with no ethical or moral responsibility to people or planet. It will correct that, or a generation will storm the Bastille.

Generations will have to storm the Bastille to correct that.

This country’s situation is the natural outgrowth of capitalism, though. Whenever any industry is preoccupied with private ownership and profit margins, we end up here. We can’t humanize capitalism because it wasn’t meant to be a human-centered model.

All capitalism is virulent. Capitalism is literally the economic philosophy of maximum human and ecological exploitation. Individual capitalists may put on a nice face now and again, but capital as a system either grows by exploiting and conquering, or it dies.

The old Soviet Union is the longest running example of socialism in our time. What was there environmental record like? Chernobyl anyone?

*We've drifted into a virulent strain of Authoritarianism while still naming it Capitalism. The ethical & moral responsibility now lies with the politicians who change their position based on the best lobbyists. Fixed it 😊 To call it capitalism is very Orwellian double speak.

Capitalism, like any “ism,” cannot be “scaled up” without causing increasingly disturbing side effects. Size Matters! I could say it 100 times! Engineers know this, but for some reason people from other disciplines just won’t listen. You cannot make something much bigger …
