How can you preach the virtues of capitalism to people who don’t have any capital? It takes capital to be a capitalist. I totally understand why so many young people are saying “What the hell has global capitalism ever done for me?”

Marianne would you consider endorsing Lisa Savage for US Senate in Maine? She's running as a Green on a progressive platform and thanks to ranked-choice voting she won't spoil the election for Susan Collins

That’s a complicated race and it needs to be left in the hands of Mainers.

“Virtues of capitalism” Those words don’t go together, sorry. At best I could see trying a utilitarian explanation of capitalism, but as we’re currently seeing, that’s wrong too. Capitalism is a short term system for maximizing profits in the short term before society collapses

Young people have human capital, older people have a disproportionate amount of capital goods, that’s how accumulation works

There are no "virtues" of capitalism. It is a rebranding of feudalism, designed to maintain the lord/peasant power structure in an industrialized society. Every hard-fought gain for working class peoples has been from anti-capitalist in nature.

Just wait till they experience global socialism and start saying “why is the government forcing me to work 60 hrs/wk at the job they chose for me? why didn’t I have a choice?” or “why is there never any food in the grocery store?” or “why can’t I practice my religion?”

Because it's not about what capitalism can do for you. It's what you can do for capitalism 😋
