Uh, slavery was allowed. Slaves were considered 3/5 of a human being. And women could not vote. Yes, the Constitution DOES change over time!

Amy Coney Barrett on originalism: "That means that I interpret the Constitution as a law... I understand it to have the meaning that it had at the time people ratified it. That meaning doesn't change over time and it's not up to me to update it or infuse my policy views into it."

The Constitution doesn't change over time, but it can be changed over time. See the difference? It can be amended and there is a Constitutional process for doing so. But we don't and shouldn't "change" the constitution through judicial activism.

You mean like the Supreme Court in the year 2000 violating the part where it says that states run their own elections? You mean like that kind of judicial activism?

With all due respect, the CONSTITUTION nowhere denied women the right to vote or spoke ONCE about Slavery. Nowhere in the Constitution does it discriminate in any way or any person(s). I would suggest you get a pocket Constitution or you can read it here. constituteproject.org/consti…

Well. I'm older than you, and it has not changed in my lifetime. Thank goodness!

Yes. And in the 13th and 19th Amendments, the people changed the meaning of the constitution. And those amendments, to an originalist, have the same meaning now as when they were ratified. This is GOOD. It means an originalist judge won't arbitrarily update or undo those words.

Uh..."at the time people ratified it" The 13th amendment was *ratified* on December 6, 1865 The 14th was *ratified* on July 21, 1868. Our Constitution also says treaties are the law of the land, it sure would be good to get some originalism on native treaties.

Did the crystals not tell you why the slaves were considered 3/5?
