Monday is Mental Health Day. An important issue to remember is that any government which leaves tens of millions of people living with chronic economic desperation and anxiety is itself a primary generator of mental health issues.

The beauty of our system is that you don’t have to live in abject poverty if you make the right decisions in your day to day life, *and* if you have screwed up, you can change course and reclaim your American dream. The system you’re proposing just equalizes poverty for all.

Such a privileged look at America today.

“Privileged” was born in Arkansas, became a teenage mother, a single mother of 3 by the time I was 30, and worked my ass off without the assistance of the government/entitlement programs or child support to move to a better market and eventually reach 6 figures. How about you?

I’m very happy for you & I celebrate the upside of American society as much as you do, but that mdoesn’t mean millions of people exist for whom that possibility is not reachable. The main “government handouts” go to corporations & the very richest among us.

The only people for whom this isn’t accomplishable are those with physical or mental disabilities that limit them, and of course they need assistance, but convincing people they aren’t capable merely because of where they were born or skin color is abusive.
