1/ For years I heard people say things like “I’m not political” & that illusion contributed to what’s happening now. In fact everything is political: the quality of the air you breathe, toxins in food, safety of cars and airplanes, whether or not you have healthcare and fair pay.

2/ Many blame others for perpetrating madness they wouldn’t have been able to perpetrate if more of us had been awake politically. Too many people remaining apolitical enabled the emergence of a “political class.” And how’d did they do? Look around you.

3/ Too many people were distracted, but no more: a political awakening is at hand. We can’t see all the results yet but on the level of cause a political volcano is brewing, a realignment of our hearts with our highest ideals. See beyond the darkness and straight into the light.

4/ It’s not where we are that ultimately matters so much as where we’re going. The waters we’re in right now are turbulent, but on the other side of this there’s a calm and pristine bay of societal potential. Every moment we spend imagining it is a moment we help bring it forth.

Most issues that I care about are human issues vs a party: > Medicare for all > Ending wars and regime change > Immigration reform > Ending war on drugs > Justice reform > Free college/trade schools > Ending poverty > Lifting up disadvantaged > Ending censorship > Environment

People say "I'm not political" nobody likes to feel stupid, yet "politics" seems complicated and makes people feel stupid. So they work do laundry & turn to their devices (vices? screens I mean). Snyder, On Tyranny says make small talk, make eye contact. Agree it's all political!

Well at LEAST we share that value in common!
Today, I overheard a conversation in which a lady was saying she doesn't follow or pay attention to politics. Folks, politics isn't a hobby. It's our LIVES. If you can afford not to care or be aware, you're probably privileged.
