1/ Imagine if we had a presidential candidate saying “Yep it’s true. We’re going to give you free healthcare. We’re going to pass a Green New Deal. We’re going to make college tuition free for everyone. We’re going to cancel all your college loans.”

2/ And when people asked “But how are we going to pay for all that?” the candidate would say “By taxing the segment of people whose tax cuts and corporate subsidies have amounted to the biggest transfer of wealth in our history over the last 40 years.”

Most of us don't believe that killing the golden goose is a good plan. Punishing people who produce will get us less of what we want or need. Did you not ever take a course on economics?

Yeah, it's like politicians filter every single word and sentence they say for fear of saying the wrong thing instead of just saying what's what. Like the Pack the Courts question, it comes down to power (who controls the Senate).

You don't have to imagine anything. It's a matter of historical record that US voters reject so-called "socialism." You should be making fact-based assessments, rather than naively conjecturing. Literally anyone can make uninformed, uneducated guesses about "the American people".
