1/ Imagine if we had a presidential candidate saying “Yep it’s true. We’re going to give you free healthcare. We’re going to pass a Green New Deal. We’re going to make college tuition free for everyone. We’re going to cancel all your college loans.”

2/ And when people asked “But how are we going to pay for all that?” the candidate would say “By taxing the segment of people whose tax cuts and corporate subsidies have amounted to the biggest transfer of wealth in our history over the last 40 years.”

You can tax all the rich billionaires in the USA 100%, that will be enough to run the government for 6 weeks. They want 4T for the Green New Deal. Are you that dumb?

Because the math does not work - even if you assume no one will change their behavior - it is worse when most do change their behavior. doubling income tax revenue - which is optimistic - is still only 1/3 of what you need.

At federal level, taxes don't pay for anything; taxes reduce the money supply and help to control for inflation. Talk to @StephanieKelton. Still, totally correct that we need to tax the rich because huge income disparity is lethal to democracy.
