Automatic registration requires the government to keep track of every citizen by age and location from birth. This is antithetical to American liberty. Also votes are local matters. Registration has to do with where you are as much as who you are
The entire voter registration phenomenon is unnecessary; every American citizen should just be automatically registered on their 18th birthday (and we should lower the voting age).

The states could do it. They’ll come up with all kinds of excuses but it absolutely could be done.
