CEOs go to business retreats that have meditation sessions; Harvard Med School school has conferences on integrative medicine; educators focus on “educating the whole child.” Politics is only corner of our society that holds onto a 20th-C mindset like it’s some superior quality.

Very true. The VA teaches us meditation individually and in groups, by itself or as part of biofeedback, tai chi, yoga, mental health appts, tbi treatment, healing touch and more.

I've led Meditation lunch and learns at Fortune 500 companies with great success, along with many other topics.

How long has it been since we came up with a new way to govern ourselves and divy up the resources we want and need?

Politics is where those who supposedly want to have the best and tallest building around... But only want to get it by tearing down all the better taller buildings around them... It's time to stand for excellence.

I'm not convinced the new age mindset is superior though. Do the meditation retreats, "whole child" education, etc. actually produce superior results? I can think of a lot of examples where following these trends detracts rather than adds value.
