by these definitions, the nightmare has been going on for 110 years or more.
When this nightmare is over we’ll need to guarantee 3 things to make sure it never happens again: that 1) every American child learn civics, 2) every citizen has enough economic opportunity to thrive, and 3) we take the money out of politics and return government to the people.

It’s never been perfect. Other generations have had to push back against institutionalized darkness of the heart, and when they have succeeded they have then made changes that allowed course-corrections to occur. It’s simply our turn now.
