When this nightmare is over we’ll need to guarantee 3 things to make sure it never happens again: that 1) every American child learn civics, 2) every citizen has enough economic opportunity to thrive, and 3) we take the money out of politics and return government to the people.

If you’re familiar with bible prophecy at all, none of the above will be happening. It’s way too late in the game for any of that. It’s going to go from bad, to much, much worse. Fortunately, GOD WINS.

None of us know yet but all of us can commit to the process. There has to be a change inside us now, where citizenship becomes a significant factor in what we think of as a well-lived meaningful life.

I agree with all those aims, but I think number 3 has zero chance with either the current occupant or a DNC loyalist in the White House.

Specially with the SCOTUS being what it is, we’re not going to be able to overturn Citizens United anytime soon. We need to work towards a constitutional amendment to create public funding for federal campaigns. That work is bigger than either party or any one election.

I think a lot more people have cried a few tears recently than we have any idea. But even that will transform us. We took a lot of things for granted that we will never take for granted again.
