Focusing only on what America has done wrong is as unbalanced a view of truth as is focusing only on what we’ve done right. An enlightened and compassionate view sees all of who we are, celebrating & building on what we’ve done right and dedicated to fixing what we’ve done wrong.

Not everything was simply right or wrong. Some of it was natural progress, chaotic at times and destructive but still natural.

We ... individually ... and as a country ... are certainly far from perfect ... and ... we are far from being all wrong ... we need to be ... consciously and continually ... making efforts to both improve ourselves ... and our country!

Yet we’ve heard nothing but stories of Americans exceptionalism forever. Learning about the Tulsa riots or the treatment of native Americans doesn’t threaten any of that. Is the nation so weak it can’t stand the truth without a spoonful of sugar? 🤦‍♀️
