The MIC can't sell weapons to militaries with a full armory, so either the armory expands or an enemy will be contrived to deplete the existing resources to make room for replacements.

IIRC we already have 480 ships, going to 500 would not be ridiculous. We have, in an ideal world, been using our Navy to promote free trade by monitoring the seas, using them for humanitarian aid efforts and backing up foreign democracies in unfriendly regions.
The Navy currently doesn’t have the personal to man the ships they have now. They don’t need ships, they need people. The navy admitted this when their ships crashed into each other.
