What does it matter that the 1st amendment gives us “freedom to peaceably assemble” if anytime they want to the police have a right to tell peaceful protesters they “must now disperse?” Because inconveniences you?? Inconveniencing you is the only way people feel they can be heard

This is true ... If there is a protest 20 miles away in the woods ... what will it accomplish? ... a protest must have an impact ... otherwise it will be a waste of time!

The whole point of a protest is to draw attention to an injustice. It is supposed to inconvenience you.

2 cops were shot, I don’t think I get your point.

If the cops declare that a “peaceful protest" is an "unlawful assembly" and you don't immediately give up your constitutional right to peaceful public assembly, you'll be gassed. If that doesn't work, there will be clubs and rubber-tipped bullets. Welcome to Freedom, USA.

Thank You for making that point publicly. It's been on my mind quite a lot.

The police unilaterally declare the assembly unlawful and then launch their attack. When assembling means risking injury, imprisonment or death, there is no freedom of assembly.

A little nuance here. Those protests do not remain peaceful at night. How many groups of CHAZ are ok? How does a society function that allows this un deterred. What is your answer to the violence at night?

Yeah “peaceful”

People need to get more informed about who they are electing. These people in power don't exist in a vacuum, most are elected positions or are appointments by elected officials. As citizens we should be bullying them, not subservient
