Our modern economy was created when women had no voice in the public sphere. Children were seen as having no economic value & raising them was seen as “woman’s work.” We have a voice now though and we need to use it. Raising a child is not just woman’s work; it’s society’s work.

Also, attributing the worth of children in terms of their economic value is grossly materialistic. It explains the slaver mentality.

We also need to right value business. We over value production and consumption to our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual detriment.

Women who stay at home to raise their children don't get any credit for social security. Having been a stay at home mother doesn't make it easy to find a job, either. The cost of childcare often outweighs the take home pay of a days work also.

Our government needs to become responsible for it's citizens ... which includes our children!

No it is a woman and man’s work. They had them, they raise them.

It is society’s job to help raise children. One day that child might be President, and be making choices for you. Scary thought.
