2/ So what’s happening is a very cautionary tale. We don’t just have to wake up in a whole new way to fight off tyrannous forces in our midst; we’ll have to stay awake if we’re to guarantee they won’t reappear. Rarely have external events caused so much internal transformation.

3/ In order for the US to survive & thrive after this awful chapter, we’re going to have to start considering citizenship a basic aspect of a meaningful & well-lived life. No more political denial or complacency, or the next time we fall down we just might not rise up.

Prevention is key. But I wish we could say that’s this is the end. Putting Trump in office was opening Pandora’s box. Hopefully America won’t walk eyes wide open into another poopy Trump situation. But other positions are open to Trump-like candidates.

I was taught growing up that politics and voting was something other people did. Never pointed out to me that as a citizen it was my responsibility to vote. I was way way into adulthood before I took it seriously.
