2/ So what’s happening is a very cautionary tale. We don’t just have to wake up in a whole new way to fight off tyrannous forces in our midst; we’ll have to stay awake if we’re to guarantee they won’t reappear. Rarely have external events caused so much internal transformation.

3/ In order for the US to survive & thrive after this awful chapter, we’re going to have to start considering citizenship a basic aspect of a meaningful & well-lived life. No more political denial or complacency, or the next time we fall down we just might not rise up.

WTF are you talking about? Trump has given people more freedom. He lowered taxes, reduced regulations and pre-COVID people were making more money and had more opportunity. If he was a tyrant he would have used COVID to lock-down/trace everyone instead of delegating to the states.

Any astute observer would have predicted that we would end up here after 9-11-01 at the latest. Americans think that real freedom not granted by religious leaders or a corporate overclass, is free. Can be had at no cost or risk to personal life. And is sadly not willing to pay

I still don’t know what freedoms were taken away by T. Are you discussing the c19 lockdowns which are the sole responsibility of each State governors? I wish I knew what exactly you mean by this.
