11 states don’t require 1/2 yr study in US civics, history or govt. Sheer ignorance of millions of Americans of basic tenets of US Constitution helped lead us here. If you don’t learn the Bill of Rights as a child you don’t know as an adult to be horrified when it’s under assault

let's not forget the dumbing down of America with fluoride, GMOs, pesticides, vaccines, plastic, amalgams, glyphosate, Hollyweird and mainstream news.
I had a woman, who said she had an education and psychology degree, tell me that the Senate could change everything a House bill said, and if the president signed it, the revised bill would be law without the House approving the changes!!!!!!

Marianne, i was in a school that was required to do so and believe the education was not great. I didn’t learn about the REAL history of the US until college

Yes, indeed! I’m a public school curriculum supervisor in NJ and we teach it and you can tell by our recent positive public and police reactions to racial tensions and how we fought back the Virus that our sense of civic duty is strong - #jerseystrong.

@marwilliamson How’s your handle on world history? Not awful?
Lol... learn civics. The only thing the objectives these days are the human condition and the dark legacy of American imperialism. I teach, girlfriend. Politicians make curriculum, not schools. So, it ain’t us.

Democracy, by definition, can’t work with an educated, informed public. Yet our k-12 system is underfunded and our news media thinks of itself as entertainment.

tbh - I have seen what is being taught in "US civics, history, and gov't", and I would be extremely hard pressed to be convinced that being taught nothing wouldn't be better than the propaganda that IS being taught ...

Requiring civics courses would be a good small change. Requiring logic and critical thinking courses before teaching reading would be revolutionary.
